TOWN OF WALLKILL – Standard and Poors has affirmed the Town of Wallkill’s AA/stable bond rating. The bond rating company said with the town’s close proximity to Legoland, the Resorts World casino, and major state routes, the town is a “more desirable location for new residents during the past few years.” S&P expects that “will likely continue to result in strong economic activity and higher property values.”
S&P said the town has a stable local economy with a growing, moderately wealthy property tax base, with good income and continued maintenance “of very strong reserves through positive financial performance during the past few fiscal years.”
Town Supervisor George Serrano is pleased with the report, which he said will help the town float bond anticipation notes. “The rating shows we are going in the right direction with a strong fiscal state.,” he said.
