KINGSTON – A probationary corrections officer in the Ulster County Jail and an inmate there have both been arrested on charges of promoting prison contraband.
Shawn Teuber, 25, of Fleischmanns and inmate Christopher Power, 36, of Kingston were both arrested following an investigation.
It is alleged that Teuber had provided a cell phone to inmates while working as a housing unit officer in the jail.
Detectives were able to determine that on two separate occasions, Power was in possession of a phone that Teuber had given to him.
On September 18, Teuber surrendered to detectives and was charged with felony promotion of prison contraband and official misconduct. He was released on an appearance ticket returnable to Kingston City Court.
Power was charged with two counts of felony promotion of prison contraband. He remains incarcerated in the jail on unrelated charges and will be arraigned on the new charges at a later date.
