VFW prepping for weekend car show

TOWN OF POUGHKEEPSIE – The 4th annual VFW POST 170 Car Show is taking place on Saturday, September 2, from noon until 5:00 p.m. and spots are still available for participants.  The VFW Vail-Wolff McKenna-Frye Post 170 is located at 1 Violet Avenue in Poughkeepsie.

Organizer and Post supporter, and car enthusiast Rocco Perrotta came up with the idea a few years ago because he thought it would help raise funds for the various programs that Post 170 offers to support veterans.  It has been very successful over the past three years.    “The VFW does a tremendous amount of work for our veterans and the community in general which requires money,” he told Mid-Hudson News. “This event raises a lot of money that goes to supporting our heroes and helping those in need.”

The show, which has grown each year, brings a wide array of car, truck, and motorcycle owners and enthusiasts to the VFW to see the variety on display.  Those attending will not only see some incredible vehicles but they will hear live music.  Food and a cash bar are also available.

There are trophies for the best vehicles in several classes, a 50/50 as well as a number of valuable raffle prizes, including a boat, grill, and golf clubs.

Registration for vehicles will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday.  For more information on the event that is sponsored by several local businesses and individuals, including Mid-Hudson News, call the VFW at (845) 452-5407.
