MID-HUDSON – In areas of Putnam County, the new year’s first snowfall averaged about five inches. In parts of Orange and Ulster, a foot or more of the white stuff fell. Dutchess County saw an average of eight inches of heavy snow.
Municipal plow crews were out plowing, sanding salting the roads to minimize travel problems.
By Sunday evening, most roads were just wet creating the worry of slippery conditions as temperatures fall. By mid-evening police were being called out to accidents with skidding and a couple reporting overturned vehicles.
