WHITE PLAINS – Westchester County is now the seventh local government in the state to join the New York Green Purchasing program.
County Director of Energy and Sustainability Peter McCartt said participating in the program will provide an added benefit to Westchester.
“Although the county was doing a pretty fantastic job with our purchasing of sustainable products, we could always do better and this will enable us to take advantage of over 75 green specifications written by state government experts to ensure that the products that we purchase have a much lower environmental impact,” he said.
McCartt also announced the county is in the process of developing a public system of EV charging stations with a combination of county and grant funds.
