WHITE PLAINS – A Bronx man sentenced on Tuesday in Westchester County Court to 25 years to life in state prison for shooting the father of his ex-girlfriend’s child to death.
Alexis Rose, 37, had been found guilty of murder, criminal possession of a weapon and criminal contempt in the shooting death of 41-year-old Shawn Hutchinson of Pennsylvania, a former partner of his ex-girlfriend.
On March 15, 2021, at about 9 p.m., in violation of an order of protection, Rose showed up at his former girlfriend’s home unannounced while Hutchingson was leaving.
Following a verbal altercation with his ex-girlfriend, Rose pulled out a 9mm semi-automatic gun and shot Hutchinson several times before fleeing.
The victim died at the scene.
Within hours of the shooting, Rose was arrested leaving his residence.
Following the arrest, police recovered an empty box of ammunition, packages and invoices for 9mm firearm parts, gun cleaning kits, and gun paraphernalia from his him.
The investigation also determined that prior to the murder, Rose’s conduct had escalated involving calls and texts to his ex- from several different phone numbers, in violation of an order of protection.
