2023 class leaders at Harrisville Central School named

HARRISVILLE – The 2023 valedictorian and salutatorian at Harrisville Central School have been named.

The valedictorian is Evelyn Winters, daughter of Matt Winters and Liza Atkinson, Harrisville. She has earned the highest academic award of Valedictorian, for the class of 2023. Evelyn plans to attend SUNY Oneonta in the fall for their theater program. Evelyn has participated in numerous musical and theater events since her sixth grade year at HCS.

At graduation, Evelyn will receive a Regents Diploma with Advanced Designation, as her seven semester academic average is 94.7. She will have nine dual enrollment credits through North Country Community College in Pre-calculus, US History and English Composition. She will also have three college credits through Jefferson Community College in Drawing and Painting.

Evelyn has always been active in a variety of school extracurriculars. Evelynโ€™s most meaningful activity has been playing on the varsity girlsโ€™ soccer team. She enjoys working as a team and the feeling of family and support that the team provides. She is also a four-year member of the high school chorus and has taken part in many NYSSMA solos. She is a former member of the National Junior Honor Society and is currently the Service Chair of the Bonaparte Chapter of the National Honor Society. Evelyn was also a finalist for the Student Space Exploration Program.

Evelyn worked at HCS as part of the summer youth program, she helped with maintenance and cleaning throughout the school. Evelyn was also a huge help with decorating for various elementary events. Her artistic and creative nature made her an asset to her school and her community.
