POTSDAM — A discussion led by Christian Fellowship Pastor Rick Sinclair and sponsored by Clarkson University’s Brothers and Sisters in Christ chapter drew a crowd of peaceful protestors Tuesday.
The talk was titled “10 Reasons Why Abortion is Not the Answer.” Protestors who attended were critical of both the message as well as the CFC.
The event was well attended according to Clarkson’s BASIC President Zachary Goad, who reported more than 90 people attended the event.
Goad said he was aware the event could be controversial, but said he was pleased with the turnout.
“We put on this event, fully aware of the controversy that it could create, because abortion is one of, if not the greatest, evils of our day. The slaughter of the unborn that happens every single day in this country is wicked. It is nothing less than the murder of babies. And as the title of the event would imply, there are many reasons why abortion is not the answer. However, even the greatest of sins can be fully forgiven by our loving God who sent His Son to die for the sins of the world. We are here to share the hope, forgiveness, salvation, and healing that Jesus can bring to this broken world,” he said in a prepared statement.
Among those raising concerns about that message was Potsdam resident Sabrina Petrie.
“I joined the protest with a few other community members and Clarkson students because for myself I believe women and individuals with uteruses have the right to choose,” she said in an emailed response to a request for comment.
