MADRID – Fort Tribute recently presented Gilbert Rivers, Canton, with the first-ever Outstanding Achievement award for his continued service to the Fort’s operation.

“Gib can be seen volunteering at the Fort stacking wood, mowing the grounds, putting shingles on the new hospital building or basically doing anything that needs to be accomplished,” stated Scott Wilson, Fort Tribute Coordinator. “We really count on him and he is always willing to do whatever needs to be done without hesitation,” Wilson adds.

This is the first time the award has been given and will be given annually going forward.

Fort Tribute is a Civil War-era historical interpretive center located on the grounds of the St. Lawrence Power & Equipment Museum in Madrid. It also is the home to the only single Civil War monument to recognize the Congressional Medal of Honor recipients from St. Lawrence County that fought in the War between 1861-1865.
