Northern Area Health Education Center (NAHEC) has awarded the Bruce C. Potter Memorial Scholarship to Rachel Roth, a student at Clarkson University from Victor, N.Y.
She is currently a dedicated Occupational Therapy student at Clarksonโs Lewis School of Health Science and has demonstrated outstanding commitment to the field of healthcare and a passion for helping others.
Rachel’s journey began at SUNY Geneseo, where she gained valuable experiences in various healthcare settings. It was during this time that she discovered her true calling in Occupational Therapy. Drawn to its holistic approach, Rachel looks forward to forging intimate connections with her patients, considering all aspects of their lives, including race, gender, sexuality, socioeconomic status, and more.
After completing her studies, Rachel hopes to remain in North Country, NY, where she will aim to specialize in neurorehabilitation and work primarily with adults who have developmental and intellectual disabilities. Additionally, she aspires to obtain certification as a hand therapist, further honing her skills to provide specialized care for hand injuries and conditions. This goal reflects her commitment to extending her expertise to underserved communities, offering them much-needed support and care.
Throughout her journey, Rachel will apply the knowledge and skills she gained from the national AHEC Scholar program to practice inclusive medicine. Her dedication to understanding each patient’s unique identity and needs will undoubtedly make a positive impact on the lives of those she treats.
