GOUVERNEUR — The Gouverneur and St. Lawrence County Fair returns this year from Aug. 1-6 at the fairgrounds at 85 E. Barney St.
This year’s fair will feature country recording star Dylan Scott, the popular demolition derby, fairway rides, animal exhibits, chainsaw carving demos, horse shows, livestock competitions, 4H and FFA shows, talent contest, live music, food, Rossaire’s Royal Racers and Eudora Farms Animals from Around the World.
The Fair will have a soft opening on Tuesday, Aug, 1 at 4 p.m. and carnival festivities will open on Wednesday, Aug. 2 at 2 p.m.
Admission to the fair is free. Parking is $5. Select grandstand tickets cost $15.
The schedule for special events at the Grandstands includes:
• Tuesday, Aug. 1 – 6:30 p.m. Talent Show
• Wednesday, Aug. 2 – 1:30 p.m. Band Day Parade, 7 p.m. Fireman’s Parade
• Thursday, Aug. 3 – 12 p.m. Harness Racing, 6-7 p.m. Pre-Concert Event, 7 p.m. Common Revolution Performs. The evening will has a festive atmosphere with lots of dancing, and a chance to win some great local prizes.
• Friday, Aug. 4 – 2 p.m. New York Hot Farm Pulling Series featuring Trucks, Tickets $15; 6:30 p.m. New York Hot Farm Pulling Series featuring Tractors, Tickets $15
• Saturday, Aug. 5 – 7:30 p.m. Dylan Scott Concert *FEATURED EVENT* (see below for details and tickets)
• Sunday, Aug. 6 – 12 p.m. Demolition Derby Tickets $15
No strollers are permitted in the Grandstand.
CARNIVAL
The Coleman Brothers will once again provide food, games and rides. Daily wristbands will be available to access to all rides (excluding the Rockin Cars and Bungee Jump). Rides will open Wednesday, Aug. 2 at 2 p.m.
