OGDENSBURG โ Vanessa Skipka, a senior from Lisbon Central School who is in the Cosmetology Program at Northwest Tech BOCES, has been named the Greater Ogdensburg Chamber of Commerce BOCES Student of the Month for May.
Amy Stull, Cosmetology Instructor at Northwest Tech BOCES had this to say about her, โVanessa comes to class each day prepared and eager to learn. She never turns down a challenge; rather she embraces them and succeeds. She maintains an outstanding grade point average, has an excellent attendance record,and demonstrates an exceptional work ethic. Vanessa conducts herself in a very professional manner and treats everyone with a great deal of dignity and respect. She is well-rounded in her interests and activities, in and out of school. She can gracefully balance schoolwork, family, social activities, and community service events as well as spending countless hours ice skating for the Potsdam Figure Skating Club.
Vanessa is the Treasurer of the National Technical Honor Society at Northwest Tech, as well. Upon completion of the Cosmetology Program, Vanessa will be prepared and eligible to sit for the New York State Board licensing exam and she has also been accepted into the SUNY Potsdam Early Childhood Education Program for the fall.
Vanessa received a $25 check from Jones Insurance Agency, a Certificate of Achievement from BOCES and a plaque from the Greater Ogdensburg Chamber of Commerce.
