Three area high school seniors who will be attending college in St. Lawrence County have received $500 scholarships from North Country This Week.
They are Hannah Hartigan of Norwood-Norfolk, David Zuhlsdorf of Canton Central and Emma Brosell of Potsdam Central.
In addition, two graduating seniors who are children of North Country This Week employees are also receiving $500 scholarships – Nadia Atkinson and Blaze Lindsey.
Hartigan is the daughter of Nichole Hartigan and granddaughter of John and Nadine Michaud of Norfolk. She will be attending St. Lawrence University to study psychology. Hannah is the secretary of her class and a member of the National Honor Society. She is also a member of the Norfolk-Norwood Figure Skating Club and participated in many extracurricular activities including soccer, Varsity Club, Key Club, Spanish Club, and Band.
Zuhlsdorf is the son of David and Rebekah Zuhlsdorf. He has been a member of the football and baseball teams, earning the Section X NCA MVP Award for baseball in 2022 and Athlete of Distinction for Football. He is a member of the National Honor Society and has volunteered for the American Red Cross. He will be attending St. Lawrence University, studying biomedical science.
Brosell is the daughter of Josh and Miranda Brosell. She plans to attend St. Lawrence University to major in math with the goal of becoming a math teacher. While in school, she participated in soccer, basketball, softball, outdoor track and lacrosse as well as the National Honor Society, P2Club and Varsity Club. She worked at Cactus Grill and Cantina.
Atkinson is daughter of Adam Atkinson and Annie Ruberti, and Laura Tebo and James Tebo. While attending Harrisville Central School, she participated in the IMPETUS Program, Clarkson Discovery Challenge, and the Student Space Exploration Program. She performed in school musicals, at multiple Bi-County Chorus concerts, and at two NYSSMA Solo Festivals.
