LOUISVILLE — Over 100 paddlers participated in the inaugural Turtle Float Canoe and Kayak Poker Run held Saturday, July 8 on the St. Lawrence River.
The run launched at Whalen Park and ended at The River Course At Louisville Landing Recreation. Live music was provided by Larry Holley at Chase’s Riverside Dining.
Organized by Shawn Thompson and Lindsay Gladding, the paddle was one of several events planned this summer in Louisville.
Profits from the paddle will help fund Kid’s Day to be held July 16 at the Louisville Community Center, 44 Arena Drive, from noon – 4 p.m. to include water slides bounce castles, kids games, and free food.
A Fire & Ice event will be held Friday, July 21, at Fire Station #1 at 7:30 p.m,. featuring an ice creams social, duck race, music by the Norwood Brass Firemen and fireworks at dusk
