POTSDAM — A crash on Pleasant Valley Road split a vehicle in half and left one person with injuries, according to Potsdam fire.
Potsdam fire was dispatched to a reported serious motor vehicle accident at 2:10 a.m. with one patient lying on the ground and the vehicle on fire.
Fire Drive Robert Crowe responded immediately with Engine 49 and Engine 80 responded several minutes later.
“Additional information enroute from Central Dispatch indicated that there was some confusion whether there were one or two vehicles involved,” officials said.
Firefighters reportedly found a single vehicle split in half with the front half on fire in the roadway. A line was stretched and the fire extinguished.
The lone patient was laying in the lawn near the adjacent home and was treated and transported by Potsdam Rescue Squad for his injuries, officials said.
The car reportedly left the roadway, striking a large tree, and split in half.
Rescue personnel helped clear the road of debris and the vehicle was removed by Bob’s Auto, officials said.
Potsdam Fire was back in service at 4 a.m.
Mutual aid was provided by St. Lawrence County car 10, state police and St. Lawrence County sheriff’s deputies.
