POTSDAM — The Potsdam Democratic Committee has selected three candidates to run for village seats in the upcoming November election.
Current Village Trustee Alexandra Jacobs Wilke was picked as the Democratic nominee for Potsdam Village Mayor.
Lynzie Schulte and Sharon Williams were chosen to run as candidates for the two Village Trustee openings.
Wilke will run for the seat being vacated by retiring Village Mayor Ron Tischler who announced his decision in May that he would not seek the mayoral seat again.
Wilke first won election to the village board as a trustee in 2019. Currently she is the Director of Public Relations at SUNY Potsdam.
Wilke posted the following statement on Facebook:
“I was humbled to receive the Democratic nomination for Village of Potsdam mayor last night, running alongside our trustee candidates, Lynzie Schulte and Sharon Williams for the board in November. What an honor to be nominated by Mayor Ron Tischler, as he prepares to retire after 34 years of dedicated service to our community. We also owe a debt of gratitude to the indomitable Abby Driscoll Lee, as she is set to retire after her second stint on the board (10 years in total). It was great to see so many friends and neighbors turn out, and to share the moment with our families, too! I can’t wait to get started.”
Schulte is a licensed physical therapist and local entrepreneur. She and her husband, Scott, run Foster the Plant, a vegan, plant based cafe at 55 Market St.
Williams is an author, educator and the founding director of the North Country Children’s Museum located at 10 Raymond St.
