MORRISTOWN – The St. Lawrence County Fire Chiefs Association held their bi-monthly meeting on March 16 at the Morristown Fire Station. The Association meets bi-monthly at different hosting fire stations in St. Lawrence County.
Joe Lightfoot, District 3, and Larry Denesha, District 6, were in attendance. They are both supportive of the fire service. Denesha is a 40-year member of Dekalb Fire Department. The agenda included:
● Training done by Michael Bazzocchi, Assistant Professor, Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering and Matthew Manierre, Associate Professor of Sociology, both from Clarkson University. They presented a project they are working on for firefighters, new intelligent and adaptive firefighting exoskeleton suits.
● County wide information from Matt Denner, Director of St. Lawrence County Office of Emergency Services.
● Reports from the Fire Training Center, Association Officers and Committees.
● Lilly Haen-Riedel, Clifton Junior Firefighter Program, and Logan Aldrich, Brier Hill Junior Firefighter Program, were appointed to the St. Lawrence County Fire Chiefs Association Youth in the Fire Service Committee. In the future, Lilly will be recommended for the New York State Junior Association, and Logan will be recommended for the NNYVFA (Northern New York Volunteer Firefighters Association) Youth in the FIre Service Committee.
The Morristown Fire Department Auxiliary put on a great meal and provided wonderful hospitality.
