RENSSELAER FALLS โ For more than 60 years, Betty Poor has been a pillar in the Rensselaer Falls community.
On Monday night, the Rensselaer Falls Village Board honored Poor with a Distinguished Service award.
โThe Village of Rensselaer Falls proudly recognizes Betty Poor for her remarkable service and dedication to the community. With over 60 years of unwavering commitment, Betty has become a shining example of selflessness and unity,โ said Mayor Michael Hammond. โHer infectious smile and warm greetings have uplifted countless community members, fostering joy and connection. Betty’s green thumb and love for family have enriched lives, inspiring others to cultivate their passions and strengthen family bonds.โ
In recognition of her exceptional achievements, the village board declared June 14 as “Betty Poor Appreciation Day.” Each year, residents are encouraged to celebrate her selflessness, dedication, and positive impact.
A resolution adopted Monday night reads:
WHEREAS, the Village of Rensselaer Falls, NY, takes great pride in recognizing individuals who have demonstrated exceptional commitment and dedication to serving the community; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Betty Poor has exemplified these qualities through her 60 + years of service to the larger Rensselaer Falls community as well as the Rensselaer Falls Fire and Rescue Auxiliary; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Poor’s warm and infectious smile, coupled with her heartfelt greetings, have uplifted the spirits of countless community members, creating a sense of joy and connection among all who encounter her; and
