It’s time to celebrate a spring season that saw Section 4 athletes crowned as state champions in softball, golf and track & field with our Elite All-Star selections.
Nearly 80 athletes from eight sports have been chosen to our spring teams, which put a close to a 2022-23 school year in which Elite All-Stars were chosen from 25 sports.
Athletes for each Elite team were selected from the coverage areas of the Binghamton Press & Sun-Bulletin, Elmira Star-Gazette and Corning Leader. The Press chose athletes and coaches of the year from their specific region, and separate top athletes and coaches were chosen in the Elmira-Corning area. One Coach of the Year and one Player of the Year were named for tennis.
Teams and regional award winners were selected primarily based on voting from participating coaches, with some input from the sports department for the papers where needed.
