Joseph Osborne was flying his drone over the water off Flagler Beach in Florida when he spotted lifeguards forming a human chain to rescue a boogie boarder who had drifted too far from the shore.
“I just thought it was neat,” Osborne, a Palm Coast resident and tattoo artist, told USA TODAY in an interview.
And people around the world agree. The video has garnered a lot of attention on social media since Osborne filmed it Saturday.

The video shows the lifeguards extending out using orange buoys and forming a human chain to rescue the boogie boarder who had been pulled by a current and ended up floating too far from shore.
“He wasn’t actually drowning. He couldn’t get back in,” said Tom Gillin, the ocean rescue director for Flagler Beach.
He said the first lifeguard will radio other lifeguards before going in the water. The others will rush over to help the first lifeguard.
“We just link the buoys together and we form that chain,” Gillin said. “The person at the beginning of the chain is on shallow footing, so they can pull back and walk their way back.”
