MORICHES – A state championship carries meaning for any athletes good enough, and fortunate enough, to fulfill that goal. It’s an accomplishment that, for most, is the culmination of effort put forth since grade school.
For Katy L’Amoreaux, it meant that she now gets to experience what her sister Allie did several years ago, when she helped Maine-Endwell reach the softball summit three times.
It meant that teammates Madalyn Fales and Ava Wunder will have quite the memory of that weekend when they traveled back and forth to Long Island, attending the senior prom after winning the state semifinal, then returning in time to help the Spartans take the final at Moriches Sports Complex.
It meant Isabel Hunter would join her travel softball teammates at a tournament in Philadelphia, a gold medal adorning her neck, and brag to them about the clutch home run she hit that helped Maine-Endwell earn a 4-0 win just hours earlier.
For Aleciyah Brodley, though, hoisting the championship plaque “meant the world to me.”

Her dad was a huge sports fan, and it was he who got her into softball, and the game served for them as a bonding tool over the years. Terrance Brodley died last year after suffering a stroke, the painful loss still conjuring tears from loved ones.
But in celebrating her greatest athletic triumph to this point, Aleciyah thought of him.
“He’d be so proud right now,” the junior said, becoming emotional. “Being able to do this in his honor, it means so much more to me than just a championship.”
For everyone involved, it meant every challenge theyโve overcome this season, led them to this point: Standing atop Class A once more.
Olivia Lewis dominated the circle during a shutout and drove in the go-ahead run, leading Maine-Endwell over Section 2’s Troy on Saturday, capturing their first state title since 2018.
