The most searched foods to BBQ in the US: From meats to veggies

Time to stock up on fireworks, invite friends and family over and fire up the grill.

As Independence Day fast approaches, you may be planning a cookout.

From ribs and pork chops to baked beans and asparagus, the list of grilled edible options is long, but as a nation, our tastes are varied.

Residents in sixteen states prefer veggies. The rest of the nation wants meat.

Would you believe ribs are only No. 1 in five states (Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Connecticut and Texas)?

Across all 50 states as well as the District of Columbia, over the last week, BBQ chicken was the most searched for food, according toย Google Trends data shared with USA TODAY Thursday.

Here’s a look at the rest of the top 10, plus the most searched-for “how to grill” food by state, based on Google’s data, as well as the most searched BBQ in each state so far this year.

Trends show 16 states and Washington D.C led the search with vegetables , the most popular being asparagus (7), followed closely behind by corn (6).
