On June 4th, we honored the winners of our annual Editorial Cartoon Contest with a wonderful ceremony at the Theodore Roosevelt Inaugural Site. Our local students always display such talent and creativity through the contest, and this year was no exception.
Cartoons can be a powerful teaching tool and a rich form of expression. They foster critical thinking on complex issues, and they are a gateway into current events and civic engagement. Perhaps most importantly, cartoons help illuminate the importance of free speech and can give a voice to the younger generation of Western New Yorkers.
