Inquiring minds want to know: Where did former WIVB-TV (Channel 4) anchor-reporter Chris Horvatits land? And who was the meteorologist working last weekend on WGRZ-TV (Channel 2)?
Horvatits recently joined the ranks of broadcasters leaving television to work in public relations.
Horvatits, who left Channel 4 after six years and was most recently an anchor of the morning show โWake Up!,โ is now a public information officer for the Erie County Sheriffโs Department.
His salary for a government agency is public record.
According to a spokesperson for the Erie County Comptrollerโs Office, Horvatits is filling a newly created position in the 2024 county budget that is budgeted for a salary of $83,148. Thatโs before any overtime.
It appears that he may be getting a decent raise from his salary in TV.
After Horvatits left Channel 4, the job posting for his replacement had a salary in the range of $65,000 to $75,000. Stations now must post the salary range of jobs under a recent New York State pay transparency law.
Former Spectrum News morning anchor Scott Patterson took the job.
Now on to the question about the meteorologist who did the weather on Channel 2 over the weekend.
Channel 2 General Manager Mark Manders said it was Jason Nappi, who works at WCSH, News Center Maine, an NBC affiliate in Portland, Maine. It is owned by Tegna, the same owner as Channel 2. Manders added that Nappi has Western New York roots and โwas filling in to give our team a break after our extensive storm coverage.โ The station also is down to three regular weather anchors after Maria Genero left last month.
According to his biography on the WCSH website, Nappli is a graduate of SUNY Oneonta.
โGood Deeds,โ a good news program that ended its weekly run on WBBZ-TV in protest of comments by station owner Phil Arno last year, will soon be available nationwide with a new name.
โGood Deeds Americaโ will debut online on its website and on social media,…
