Salvatore Coniglio witnessed the 2017 total solar eclipse in Wyoming, an experience he described as “primordial.”
So when he learned that his hometown of Niagara Falls would be in the path of totality for the upcoming April 8 eclipse, Coniglio said it was a “no-brainer” that he would travel from Los Angeles to experience it again with his family.

Coniglio is one of hundreds of thousands of people from across the country and world who are expected to flock to Western New York to watch the moon totally block out the sun for nearly 4 minutes.
“There will be a lot of emotion attached with just being home, and then to witness that,” Coniglio said.
Dorothy Hooper is also coming to Niagara Falls from Westchester County to experience the eclipse with her nephew, his wife and their two children.
Hooper made her hotel reservation eight months in advance and already has her eclipse safety glasses and themed T-shirts.
