Fans who waited until this week to buy tickets to the Buffalo Bills at Miami Dolphins showdown on Sunday night should get ready to pay a pretty penny to get into the game.
Ticket prices have jumped to about $350, including fees, for the cheapest seat in the upper level at Hard Rock Stadium on most secondary market platforms.
If you want a seat in the 100 level or closer to the 40 or midfield in the 300s, get ready to shell out over $500. And the last of the increasingly expensive flights heading to the Miami-area this weekend are going quickly and likely will cost a minimum of $400 round trip.
Add in a hotel, which are running in the $175-a-night range, on average, and travel and ticket costs can easily top $1,000 per person. And that doesnโt include meal expenses and other costs.
If these sound like playoff game prices, itโs because this will be a postseason-type atmosphere with significant implications for both teams.
This past Sunday when the Bills held on to win their fourth consecutive game, 27-21 over the New England Patriots, and the Dolphins fell 56-19 at the Baltimore Ravens, set up a matchup that will decide who wins the AFC East in the NFLโs final week of the regular season.
The Bills are going for a fourth consecutive division title, while the Dolphins are trying to hold on to a division it has controlled for much of the season. Buffalo may have to win just to get into the playoffs, while Miami has clinched their spot in the postseason.
Ticket prices for this game are 75% more expensive now than they were at the start of the season in September, said Nick Giammusso, who runs Buffalo ticket agency VIPTIX. That includes a bump of around $75 in price since this past Sundayโs results.
