Buffalo bars draw football fans for morning mix of Bills, booze, breakfast

Siblings Brittany and Nicholas Brown were the first to arrive at Resurgence Brewing Co. at 8 a.m. to get a jump on the brewery’s English-style “UK Kegs & Eggs” breakfast.

By 8:45, 11-year-old Scarlett Woodlock, of Wheatfield, was working on a Shirley Temple as her parents prepared to enjoy something stronger.

Restaurants and bars in Western New York are opening early Sunday for the Buffalo Bills game in London to provide fans with a fun and social environment for rooting on their team, with the potential to provide a boost in business as well. But some are not sure exactly what to expect.

And friends Sarah Beckwith and Logan Sharp managed to get up to Buffalo from Ellicottville, where they had attended Fall Fest on Saturday, though they planned to pace themselves Sunday morning.

“I’m just trying to not get hungover,” Beckwith said with a laugh.

They were among the dozens of fans at Resurgence Brewing on Chicago Street โ€“ and thousands spread out across metro Buffalo โ€“ who made it out in time for a rare 9:30 a.m. Buffalo Bills kickoff.ย
