Child Victims Act lawsuit against retired Buffalo school teacher settled

A settlement has been reached in a Child Victims Act lawsuit against a former Buffalo Public Schools teacher accused of having sexual contact with a preteen student.

The case against retired teacher Mary Boblak was settled before a trial that was scheduled to begin March 14 in State Supreme Court.

The lawsuit accused Boblak of sexually abusing the student when she was 11 in 1973 and having sex with her dozens of times over the next two years.

The accuser said her parents trusted Boblak and allowed her to travel with Boblak and stay overnight as a guest in the teacherโ€™s home on many occasions.

โ€œWe have settled out of court, but both sides have agreed not to disclose financial terms,โ€ said attorney Chris Oโ€™Brien, who represents the former student.
