The Buffalo Common Council unanimously approved Tuesday an amendment to the City Charter that sets an earlier deadline by which the mayor’s administration must submit the cityโs annual snow plan to the Council.
The deadline for the Department of Public Works to present the plan was moved from Nov. 1 to April 1.
The amendment goes to Mayor Byron Brown to sign it into law. Brown has 10 days after receipt to sign or veto the measure. If he does nothing, the item then would be enacted automatically, officials said.ย
Brown has said he believes April 1 is too early and unrealistic. ย
Some Council members had raised concerns about the Nov. 1 deadline, contending it was too late for a thorough review of the snow plan before winter weather arrives and for the allocation of funds.
University Council Member Rasheed Wyatt and North Council Member Joseph Golombek Jr. co-sponsored the measure to change the due date.ย
