The conversion of the former Lincoln Park Arena into a 20,000-square-foot, indoor fieldhouse is complete, Town of Tonawanda Youth, Parks & Recreation Department officials recently announced.
The townโs recreation coordinator, Trevor Taggart, on Sunday said the first events at the upgraded Lincoln Park Athletic Complex at 260 Decatur Road and Parker Boulevard will be held Saturday, coinciding with the start of the townโs Winterfest weekend. They include Thunderwolves baseball from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., and an outdoor kickball league from 4 to 6 p.m.

After next weekend, the new facility will be available for rental for school and recreational teams. In addition, Taggart said, the facilityโs artificial turf allows for year-round indoor use for many sports and recreational activities, including soccer, baseball, lacrosse, softball, field hockey, rugby, flag football, kickball and walking.
Taggart described the upgraded fieldhouse as a multipurpose facility.
โSo, pretty much anything, we can do field hockey, lacrosse, flag football, soccer, badminton, pretty much anything can go inside there, kickball,โ Taggart said.
โItโs 61 yards long, and the width is 31 yards,โ he added. โThe whole perimeter of the fieldhouse is netted, and the same with the ceiling. Thereโs netting all across the ceiling. Then, it also has four pitching lanes and hitting lanes that can be pulled across the width of the field, if needed,โ he added.
The project is part of an expansion of recreational venues at both Lincoln Park and Brighton Park in the town.
