Delaware North donates 5 snowmobiles to Buffalo for winter emergencies

Delaware North is donating five snowmobiles to the City of Buffalo to bolster the Buffalo Fire Department’s winter emergency response during major snow events, including blizzards.

The five lightly-used 2022 Ski-Doo Grand Touring Sport 600 ACE models are valued at about $15,000 each, a total of $75,000. 

Buffalo Mayor Byron W. Brown filed his snow plan for the 2023-24 winter season two days shy of the Nov. 1 deadline. A Buffalo Common Council member and the leaders of the police and fire unions said Wednesday it is all happening too late.

They were sourced from Nova Guides, Delaware North’s adventure tour business at Camp Hail, Colo.

“I thank Delaware North for once again being a good corporate citizen with the donation of five snowmobiles to the Buffalo Fire Department,” Mayor Byron W. Brown said. “In an emergency snow situation, the snowmobiles will be helpful in many ways. The snowmobiles will be added to all of the new equipment and vehicles the city of Buffalo added as we get ready for winter 2023.”

For the coming winter, Buffalo’s Department of Public Works has 10 additional snowplows, six surplus plows on loan from the state and four new plows purchased by the city. And the city has set aside $1 million to pay contractors for snow removal in…
