Erin Grajek has been appointed interim president and CEO of the Buffalo & Erie County Botanical Gardens, the organization’s board of directors announced Monday.
Grajek, who has served as chief operating officer since 2021, will begin her duties immediately.
The board voted unanimously to name her as interim successor to president and CEO Mark Mortenson, who died unexpectedly Sept. 14.
Grajek began at the Botanical Gardens as director of marketing in 2006, was promoted to associate vice president of marketing and visitor experience in 2014 and became vice president in 2019. She holds a bachelor’s degree in communication from Canisius University.
“Erin has been a trusted leader with the Botanical Gardens,” said board chair Tisha Luciani, “and we are confident in her ability to provide stability and guidance.”
