A verbal encounter with threats caught on an Evans police officer’s body camera led to an investigation but no charges against a candidate for town supervisor.
The clash came shortly after 11 a.m. Oct. 20, when Officer Scott DeJohn was at the scene of an accident on Southwestern Boulevard.
Footage from DeJohn’s body camera was obtained by The Buffalo News through a Freedom of Information Law request.
The video shows a car being hoisted onto a tow truck as DeJohn walks across a parking lot and former police officer Michael Masullo, who is running for supervisor, comes up to him and puts his arm around him.
As absentee votes continue to be counted, the leads have changed in primaries in Evans and Lackawanna.
After a brief exchange about Masullo’s 12-year-old nephew, Masullo yells, “I’ll knock you right out.”
“No you won’t,” said DeJohn, who told Masullo several times to leave.
“Yeah I will. You got one month buddy, you got one month,” Masullo said.
DeJohn accused him of threatening an officer, and made it known that everything was being captured by his body camera.
“You didn’t think of that, did you?” DeJohn said.
“I don’t care, Scott,” Masullo replied.
“Well, you’re gonna, you’re gonna,” DeJohn replied.
