Grants to support health care provider, development project in Chautauqua County

A health care provider in Dunkirk and a redevelopment project in Westfield are the recipients of new federal funding, Rep. Nick Langworthy announced this week.

The Chautauqua Center in Dunkirk has been awarded a grant of $3,197,348 under the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Health Center Program to support the variety of affordable health care services it offers from its offices at 75 E. Third St.

Meanwhile, an Appalachian Regional Commission grant of $131,514 has been given to the Village of Westfield to help create a 300-seat amphitheater and park space on vacant downtown property along Chautauqua Creek. It also will provide access to the Welch Trail, a 1.25 mile recreational path on land formerly occupied by trolley tracks.ย

Langworthy noted that the project will get additional support of $450,040 from state sources and $30,000 from local contributions.
