Incorrect water/sewer bills mailed to Town of Tonawanda residents, business owners, supervisor says

About 2,500 incorrect water and sewer bills were inadvertently mailed to residents and business owners in the Town of Tonawanda, according to a statement released Tuesday by Town Supervisor Joseph Emminger.

Those customers, Emminger said, mistakenly received the same quarterly bills as they had the last quarter. However, corrected bills were expected to be mailed to customers on Tuesday, he said.

“If residents or business owners have already paid their current bill, and they overpaid, they will receive a credit on their next quarterโ€™s billing,” said Emminger.

“If they underpaid, we respectfully ask that they pay the difference when they receive the revised bill. We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused anyone and appreciate your understanding,” he added.ย ย ย

The town supervisor did not offer an explanation as to how the incorrect bills were mailed to residents and business owners or what town entity was responsible.

Attempts to reach the supervisor Tuesday were unsuccessful.ย
