Lindsay Bratek-Lorigo wins Erie County Legislature 10th District seat

The most hotly contested Erie County Legislature race in this year’s primaries became barely worth mentioning after endorsed Conservative Lindsay Bratek-Lorigo won the 10th District Republican primary race against short-term incumbent Jim Malczewski.ย

But Bratek-Lorigo still faced a Democratic challenger in the general election โ€“ Deborah Seeber, an East Aurora resident and semi-retired substitute teacher.

With 99% of the vote counted, Bratek-Lorigo won the general election 58% to 42% over Seeber. Her victory was so anticipated that Bratek-Lorigo has been attending Erie County Legislature meetings as a spectator since winning the June primary.

The 10th District includes the towns of West Seneca, Elma, Aurora, Wales, Colden, Sardinia and Concord.

The 10th District seat was vacated in January when Minority Leader Joseph Lorigo, a lifelong Conservative and Bratek-Lorigoโ€™s husband, became a State Supreme Court justice. The primary pitted five-month incumbent appointee Malczewski, a Republican who recently registered as a Conservative, against Bratek-Lorigo, a former Republican who became a Conservative after marrying into the Lorigo family, but re-registered as a Republican to enter the race.

Bratek-Lorigo spent three years working as a staffer in the Erie County Legislature and State Assembly, and now works full time in digital marketing for a senior care provider. She is also the daughter-in-law of Erie County Conservative Party Chairman Ralph Lorigo.ย
