Search warrant in Dunkirk leads to discovery of crack cocaine, drug charges for woman and man

A Dunkirk woman and man face felony drug charges after Dunkirk police and Chautauqua County sheriff’s investigators Thursday afternoon seized nearly three grams of crack cocaine and drug paraphernalia from a home on West Lucas Avenue in the City of Dunkirk.

Yajaira Herrera Hernandez, 46, was charged with third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance, third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and other charges, endangering the welfare of a child, second-degree criminally using drug paraphernalia, and first-degree criminal nuisance.

Jose L. Pacheco, 26, was charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, two counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and second-degree criminally using drug paraphernalia.

Sheriff’s deputies said they obtained a search warrant for the West Lucas Avenue home as part of a six-month investigation into narcotics activity in Dunkirk.

Hernandez was found at the home, while Pacheco was seen leaving the residence just prior to the arrival of the Dunkirk Police’s Special Response Team Tactical Unit.
