Some ‘suffering’ Sabres fans not ready to give up on season tickets, but others have

Charles Killian’s Facebook profile says it all.

It reads: “19 year suffering season ticket holder for the Buffalo Sabres.”

That’s how long he’s stuck with his hometown hockey team as a season ticket member, despite the past 13 years without a single NHL playoff game in Buffalo.

Hard as it is to believe, the playoff drought is now a teenager and General Manager Kevyn Adams will have to swing big this offseason to augment his roster with the depth needed to support his core.

He keeps coming back year after year. But it’s not without some reluctance.

“The past 13 years have been pretty tough,” said Killian, 38, of the Town of Tonawanda, who’s gone to games since he was 7 and the team played at Memorial Auditorium. “I keep telling myself the next season is going to be better. It’s got to be better.”

There aren’t many fans like Killian left.

His two seats are among the several thousand that the Sabres estimate have been purchased continuously by season…
