A Buffalo Diocese spokesman confirmed on Friday that St. Lawrence Church at 1520 East Delevan Avenue in Buffalo will shut down due to fiscal struggles and a lack of sacramental ministries.

Parishioners are grieving the pending loss of St. Andrew Churchย and its grammar school, both of which have been mainstays in the Town of Tonawanda for many decades.

Typical attendance at two weekend Masses at St. Lawrence was between 50 and 85 people.
