Bargaining has resumed between management and the union representing 40 striking workers at Milk-Bone’s dog treats plant in Buffalo.
Contract talks took place on Tuesday for the first time since the strike began Oct. 16, and again on Wednesday, said Rick Dahn, a business representative with the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers District 65.
Not all of the workers at the plant are on strike. The 40 striking employeesย โ among 277 total employees at the plantย โ work in maintenance and repair.
“Milk-Bone has maintained production at the facility to ensure we continue to deliver on the needs of our consumers,” said Frank Cirillo, a spokesman for J.M. Smucker, which owns Milk-Bone.
“We are maintaining open lines of communication with the Union and hope to come to a mutually acceptable agreement,” Cirillo said.
The 40 workers rejected a tentative agreement before opting to go on strike.
