A little snow led to some traffic headaches this morning for Western New York commuters.
But the problems didn’t last, and neither will the snow.
The National Weather Service Buffalo on Wednesday had predicted the widespread light snow. Meteorologists urged motorists to drive slowly during their commute due to reduced visibility and slippery, snow-covered roads.
A pair of crashes on two of the region’s most heavily traveled expressways – Route 400 and the Kensington Expressway (Route 33) – closed lanes and didn’t help matters.
I-190 and I-290 also were congested, prolonging the commute.
The Erie County Department of Public Works issued winter driving safety reminders on its X (formerly Twitter) page early Thursday, urging drivers to give themselves extra travel time.
The snow is expected to taper off in Western New York and move eastward into north central New York.
The weekend will be considerably warmer, with temperatures rising into the 40s and 50s.
