The 62nd annual Variety Kids Telethon last weekend raised $1,041,775, the Variety Club of Buffalo Tent 7 announced Tuesday. It surpassed donations for the 2023 telethon, which totaled $1,025,808.
Proceeds from the telethon will support Oishei Children’s Hospital and other children’s charities. The telethon was broadcast live from Variety Club headquarters in Lancaster from 6 to 11 p.m. Saturday on WGRZ-TV, Channel 2, and from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday on WBBZ-TV, Channel 67.1.
Attorney Paul Cambria, president of Variety Tent 7, and Darius Pridgen, former Buffalo Common Council president, were hosts.
Among the music performers and special guests was 7-year-old Oliver Cope of Blasdell. This year’s Celebrity Child, he has received extensive treatment since birth at Children’s Hospital for osteogenesis imperfecta, a rare genetic disorder that causes his bones to break easily.
