Syracuse, N.Y. — The southbound lanes of Interstate-81 have finally reopened after they were shut down just before noon after a vehicle crash near I-690 shortly before noon.
The New York state traffic alert system said at 1:30 p.m. that the highway could be closed until nearly 6 p.m., but lanes were reopened at 2:20 p.m.
Police have released no details about the accident, which occurred at 11:55 a.m.
