Anyone who knew Madi knew she was estranged from her father for more than five years for a host of reasons. Madi’s father, Rich Dingee and his now wife, Diana Romero, have created a 501(c)3 allegedly to help other children with emotional issues under the guise of Madi’s Way, Clinton Corners, New York.
While this sounds innocuous, Madi didn’t have emotional issues and she was a well-adjusted mature young woman. She didn’t commit suicide. She died in a tragic car accident four days before she planned to celebrate Christmas with her Mom, sister, and nieces. She was a high-achieving scholar at Our Lady of Lourdes, an athlete, an equestrian, and an amazing daughter and friend to many.
No one who knew her would say she had emotional issues which brings me to my point….why do Rich Dingee and Diana Romero need to raise money for a child who’s passed away?
This is a scam they’ve created to exploit others’ kindness to generate money for themselves. We’ve all seen scams! Speaking as a professional accountant, a 501(c) 3 merely means you can’t have a profit at the end of the fiscal year. That doesn’t preclude a check from being written to anyone the organization designates. Did I mention scams? Beware!
If you want to do something in Madi’s name, donate to Lucky Orphanage or Our Lady of Lourdes, two organizations she cherished. Please folks, I don’t want to discourage you from being givers, as I am one myself, but research these organizations to ensure the dollars are really making a difference for those who are not disingenuous.
Sincerely,
