HYDE PARK – Political newcomer Michael Plass was the top vote-getter in the Conservative primary for Hyde Park Town Justice on Tuesday night. Incumbent Republican Town Justice Jean McArthur finished second, and incumbent Judge Joseph Petito, a Democrat, finished third.
The November race for the two town justice positions will see the same candidates. Plass, who won the Conservative line with 68 votes, also has the Republican ballot line for November. Judge McArthur, who collected 33 votes on Tuesday will also be on the Republican line. Judge Petito, with a strong showing for a Democrat in a Conservative primary, with 22 votes, will be the Democratic candidate for town justice in November.
When voters head to the polls in a few months, they will choose two candidates of the three to serve as town judges.
