EAST FISHKILL – Police were alerted to a possible kidnapping on Stormville Mountain Road in Hopewell Junction on Saturday morning at approximately 11:30 a.m. When police attempted to stop the subject’s vehicle, a chase ensued, with the fleeing vehicle leading police on Route 52, I-84, and the Taconic State Parkway.
Police have told Mid-Hudson News that a person observed a car on Stormville Mountain Road with a female passenger screaming that she was being kidnapped. After police spotted the vehicle and gave chase, the operator, described as a black male with short dreadlocked hair, wearing a blue cutoff tanktop and gray sweatpants abandoned the vehicle on Hosner Mountain Road near the State Police barracks in Stormville, and fled on foot. A pursuing trooper lost sight of the man in the area of the Moorgate mobile home park. An updated description said the subject was wearing black shorts.
The subject’s vehicle was impounded by the police and taken away on a flatbed.
The East Fishkill Police Department, the New York State Police, Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office, and Putnam County Sheriff’s Office began searching the area of the Taconic State Parkway (northbound) in the area of Moorgate for the fleeing subject. A police K9 unit and drones from the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office were also deployed.
