EAST FISHKILL – State Assemblyman Anil Beephan Jr. (R, Eat Fishkill) has expressed his “strong opposition” to Central Hudson’s proposed electricity rate increase of 16 percent effective next year.
“I have witnessed firsthand the direct and negative impact that the rising cost of energy, coupled with Central Hudson’s faulty billing practices and the CLCPA, has had on our community,” Beephan wrote in a letter to State Public Service Commission Chairman Rory Christian.
Beephan said the “well-being of our residents is paramount,” and he urged the state Public Service Commission to “carefully consider the potential implications of approving such a substantial rate increase.”
He said many area residents are “already facing financial challenges and uncertainties, and this rate hike could exacerbate their difficulties.”
