MONTICELLO – A Sullivan County Court jury Tuesday convicted a 23-year-old Monticello man of felony assault.
Milso Pineda-Monroy was found guilty following a two-day trial.
The arrest stemmed from an investigation headed by the Town of Fallsburg Police with assistance from the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office.
The jury found that on September 20, 2022, Pineda-Monroy intentionally stabbed another person in the heart with a picket knife following a dispute at the Gulf gas station in South Fallsburg.
The victim sustained serious injury and was flown to Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla for treatment.
The evidence at trial included testimony, medical records, and video evidence from the gas station.
Pineda-Monroy faces up to 25 years in state prison when sentenced in November.
“Acts of violence such as those demonstrated by this defendant have no place in Sullivan County,” said Acting District Attorney Brian Conaty.
