WAPPINGER – A 42-year-old Wappinger man has been charged in connection with a sexual assault investigation that has been ongoing for a year.
The Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office said Kawliga Shapiro was arrested by sheriff’s detectives on Tuesday, August 8 where he was charged with having sexual intercourse on at least two occasions in 2022 with someone who is unable to consent.
The alleged incidents are not thought to be random acts, police said.
Shapiro has been charged with two counts each of rape, incest, and endangering the welfare of an incompetent person, all as felonies.
He is in the Dutchess County Jail already on unrelated charges and remains remanded.
