POUGHKEEPSIE – Nestor Ortiz-Ocampo, 18, accused of killing Quarran Smith, 16, with a knife during a fight that took place after a football game at Arlington High School in 2001 has been found not guilty of murder and manslaughter by a jury.
The verdict was announced on Friday afternoon.
Ortiz-Ocampo was found guilty of criminal possession of a weapon; the knife that was used against the victim.
The jury began their deliberations earlier this week. The trial began on July 27 in the courtroom of Dutchess County Court Judge Jessica Segal.
